Professor Liang received his BS and MS degrees from Nanjing University and Ph.D degree from Boston University.
Impact:
Prof Liang has published over 430 peer-reviewed papers in English journals, along with eight English books, five of which have been translated into Chinese and published in China. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Science of Remote Sensing and has previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of the nine-volume book series "Comprehensive Remote Sensing" (Elsevier, 2017). Currently, he is working on the second edition of this book series as the Editor-in-Chief. He has also held positions such as Associate Director of the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Sciences and Dean of the School of Geography at Beijing Normal University, China.
He has led the development of several high-level satellite products, including the Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) product suite that is freely available at www.glass.hku.hk and www.geodata.cn. These products have been widely used worldwide.
